BOOKS, HEART SURGERY

Blue Baby, Orange Tank (my new book!)

July 22, 2015

It has been exactly 6 months and 1 week since a very skilled team of humans reached inside of my clamped wide-open chest and fixed my non-beating heart. It feels like it was both forever and no time ago.

Life is crazy. We just have to keep floating.
So many things have happened in this half part of the year and honestly, I feel pretty brand new. Looking back makes me feel blessed and lucky on so many levels.

I guess having a clear picture of where you came from helps to shed light on where you would like to go.

I recently wrote a short story for a mini memoir series, published last week, about what it was like being born with a tiny, faulty heart. A defective little organ that made my baby-sized body turn blue and would have failed to keep me living if it wasn’t eventually fixed.

The story chronicles the time from my birth in the late 1970’s in Trinidad, and the unusual measures that my equally unusual parents took to make sure that I survived long enough to have my first open-heart surgery.

The book is available individually or as part of a series of 6 other amazing childhood themed mini memoirs. It’s called Blue Baby, Orange Tank and is available on Amazon and in several other download formats here.

Go check it out and give it a read, I would love to hear what you think!
