Nine-month baby stats:

We have all survived the first 9 months. Below are some stats of how Baby Averie has progressed so far.

Dimensions:

At her last checkup she measured in at 74cm

Suspecting trickery I asked the nurse
“74 whole centimetres?”
“yes, 74 centimetres”
“That’s a lot of centimetres…”
“yes, it is…. you can get your baby dressed now”

She weighed just over 21lbs, but I suspect Averie tricked the scale somehow as she feels more like five zillion lbs. when we pick her up.
The exhaustion of parenthood might have skewed out weight perception skills of late.
All of which is pretty weird considering this is what she looked like a year ago today.

She looked like an alien. And now she is super cute.

Skill Set:

Our daughter is developing MAD SKILLZ. She is still trumpet champion at making mouth fart noises. She can crawl with terrifying speed and efficiency. Pulling herself up to standing with more balanced dexterity each day. She received a toy scooter car for Christmas which she drives backwards with remarkable confidence, forward not so much yet. The scooter was not a gift from us, we didn’t buy her anything for Christmas because babies that age are more into sucking on wrapping paper than opening gifts.

She wore her Santa suit with professional commitment.

Her newfound ability to move makes her a speedy attacker and can get her gums to your nose to bite at great speeds.
Averie has 2 teeth cutting through! Even though getting teeth is technically not a skill, it gets a notable mention.

Likes:

milk, milky drinks, milk boobs, milk to be everywhere.

She loves to eat and is into feeding herself by smearing it around and sometimes in her mouth, but mostly around and into the dog’s mouth.

Averie was well behaved and super happy on the train ride to visit family for Christmas.

She also enjoyed repeated efforts to pull down Grandma and Grandpas Christmas tree and did a valiant job of trying to remove baby Jesus from his straw manger.

We visited a playground with her cousin and enjoyed the ball pit as much as I stressed about how many germs must be festering under all those coloured spheres of plastic. The final straw was when one of the kids found a sock in it so I figured that was time she came out of the ball germ pit.

Baby Averie is really great at squealing.

Dislikes:

Averie had her first bout of a cold, which was thankfully short lived but resulted in two over protective mums taking her in to see the doctor just to be sure.

She is not a fan of the two little chicklet teeth currently cutting through her gums. Teething is nature’s way of teaching babies that life gets painful and sometimes the pain comes from inside your face.

Averie still hates Santa and crimes against the innocent and politics and days when the sunshine hides.

Overall Score: 10/10

Averie James Craig was decidedly one of the very best things to happen in 2016.
Or ever really.
I love her so much it hurts.
