HEART SURGERY

Time to Pig

January 15, 2015

Having only human heart valves always seemed like something I could improve upon. Today I will finally remedy that by having a nifty new pig valve surgically implanted to replace one of my boring, floppy, nonfunctional human ones. I think this will make me way more excellent overall. Jokes.

Despite experiencing every range of the human spectrum – including but not limited to: fear, joy, relief, denial, anticipation, wretchedness, terror, calmness, anxiety, delirium – on an infinite loop every 13 seconds, I am as prepared as I will ever be.

Your well wishes, prayers, texts, homing pigeons, good vibes, faxes, messages, telepathy and overall wonderfulness are lighting up my sky.
The most sincere love and thanks to all of you.

See you all on the other side of today.
Don’t worry; I am going to totally nail this.

I hope you had a blast during heart surgery! It’s a one-time event (hopefully) for special people only. That new pig valve looks so good on you, I hope it feels as good as it sounds.

I just prayed for you and asked God to heal your heart in every way, and that He blesses the helpful pigs that have made your surgery a possibility.

Wishing you the best from the heat of the equatorial line,

Turn on your new heart valve Tracy….and keep the love coming.

I wrote this song for my girls…they are now 16.
I haven’t been able to live up to all these promises…… Not all Dads can.
You are in my thoughts and you get out of that hospital….and start sending me your newsletters that I signed up for…..Okay>>>>lol

    This Promise
Years will go by…………..Kingdoms will fall
    Stars will collide…………Eventually
And patience gets worn……..In a world of hurt
Where things got missed……And then they got worse

When broken hearts……have lost there voice
Choked up by tears…………Drowned out by noise
    Made by an innocent…..promise
    A sorely missed…..promise
Stop marking time……….No need to remember
    Don’t write it down…..You won’t forget
    This……promise
    Chorus
    I give you me…….And no-one else
    I will be yours………Or can’t you tell
For today I stand……Here in the hope
That we’ll all be kissed….By this promise
    Bridge
It’s as good as gold………It’s as tough as nails
It’s as simple as I am…And all that entails
So please listen to these words…..I can only say them once
There’s no need to repeat……..What’s already been done
What’s the point of words that have a shallow meaning
    I’d rather leave you this…..as a promise
What the point of getting filled up full of emptiness
    I’d rather leave you this…..promise….promise…promise
This my song……..I wrote while you slept
    Peaceful and silent……Inside our nest
Tried not to wake you…….So I gently crept
Around in silence…….Like a promise kept
    Repeat Bridge

    1) A little quote from me that is so made for you. “Life is like a balloon. You have to let go (of… you choose) to fly higher.” (With the all new valve you should be like a rocket.) Here a little drawing I made on this.

Hey Tracy, I don’t know you, but I wanted to tell you that I will be praying for you. My father had a major heart surgery a while ago and two mini surgeries last year so I get what you and your family must be living right now. If your surgery started at 2:00 you must be in right now!, but I wanted to let you know that I believe God is in there with you and although being ill kind of stinks everything in life is a blessing when you allow Jesus to be the light of your life, I can honestly tell you that illness has brought many of the greatest blessings I’ve ever experienced. It seriously brought my family together and mostly it showed me how to hope and have faith. I pray for God to give you a new heart (pun intended). I know when you wake up you’re gonna feel pretty bad but don’t worry too much, it will pass but God’s grace won’t.

  • Reply Alex January 15, 2015 at 5:51 pm

    Tracy,
    Fun fact about pigs:
Pigs snuggle close to one another and prefer to sleep nose to nose. They dream, much as humans do. In their natural surroundings, pigs spend hours playing, sunbathing, and exploring. People who run animal sanctuaries for farmed animals often report that pigs, like humans, enjoy listening to music, playing with soccer balls, and getting massages.
No doubt you’ll come through this a winner and live a wonderful life.
    Best wishes, and quick recovery.
    Alex

Hi Tracy, we’ve never met, but I was at school with Alex and Lizzie in England (although I was Millie Hunter back then, in case they’re confused about my post-marriage name change!).
I heard about your surgery today and I wanted to send you all my thoughts and best wishes. I was recently diagnosed with a genetic condition which I’ve been told is (among other things) placing a strain on my mitral valve, leaving it at risk of prolapsing. It’s been a scary time with trips to the hospital and talk of potential valve replacement surgery if it fails, and I have to admit that I’ve not been handling it with a particularly positive or strong mental approach.
Reading your post above has honestly filled me with so much more confidence and positivity. The way you are approaching your surgery with such a hopeful attitude is very inspiring and encouraging for me, and I wanted to say thank you.
I will be thinking of you today, and I really hope everything goes smoothly. All my very best wishes.

    Tracey
By the time you read this you will be out of surgery and will have just completed a completely new and literally life changing event. You have experienced something new that will add to your life story, and something only a small % of the population will do. You have a new viewpoint to add to your blog that people can learn from! Hope you are not in too much discomfort during recovery, I am sure the chickens are missing you and are ready to give you all their love. Hope you are up and about soon, and a whole new chapter and adventure in your life can begin! Take care
