6 Month Baby Stats

Six-month baby stats:
We have all survived the first 6 months. Below are some stats of how Baby Averie has progressed so far.

Dimensions:
27.12″ long and weighs about the same as 401 to 477 jumbo sized shrimp, assuming they are in the hefty crustacean 21-25 shrimp per pound range. (In other words she is about 19.11lbs) In researching that fact I learned that “When touched, shrimp should feel wet and clean without any slipperiness or sliminess. The shells should be tight and glistening without any signs of wear and tear.” Much like a human baby. Just kidding babies are often covered in slime and slobber.

It is difficult to articulate how very much joy Averie adds to our lives. She is funny, adorable, hilariously delicious and really makes me wonder daily if these unending faucets of love she has untapped will ever turn off to a trickle. I suspect the answer is no. All this spare love is really softening my jagged edges.

Skill Set:
She can pull herself up with assistance and sit up unaided. She swung in a swing and aced it. We know that it is just a matter of time before she is crawling as she is almost able to get on her hands and knees. It is also a matter of time before our collective household sanity is unhinged trying to secure all the areas of risk that get into the way of tiny exploring hands. Basically I look around and our entire home seems to be littered with baby decapitating landmines. The struggle to Velcro everything down should get started very soon.

Averie took her first plane ride in preparation for a much longer trip we are taking at the end of this month to visit family/friends in Trinidad. It is going to be excellent and I can’t wait to have 10 full days filled with overzealous hordes of baby sitters. And by that I mean I hope everyone is keen to baby sit because this Mamma gots to get her drink on by the pool. Kidding, I will get my drink on other places too, not just by the pool.

Likes:
milk, milky drinks, milk boobs, milk to be everywhere. Also she loves sweet potato, baby cereal, avocado but thinks banana is something we are trying to poison her with. We have discovered that she loves music and does a reasonably excellent arm flapping leg kicking dance whenever anything with a beat comes on.

Claudine took her to a pumpkin patch because it is Fall and Claudine is just crazy for pumpkins.

Dislikes:
Election coverage. Please let it all be over soon.
She had her 6 month shots recently and only gave a slightly displeased cry instead of shrieking bloody murder like before. So progress, and now she will not be stricken with Polio.

I wanted to give her 10,000 extra bonus points because she likes to copy my fake laugh so we go back and forth like that; laughing and then fake laughing until Claudine slinks away knowing fully well that she is deviously outnumbered.

I can’t wait to teach her words that don’t exist.
