Eight-month baby stats:
We have all survived the first 8 months. Below are some stats of how Baby Averie has progressed so far
Dimensions:
Measuring a baby isn’t something you often do unless it is a hobby of yours. A weird, weird hobby. So, her official size is a mystery until her next checkup. I am not concerned because sometimes I look at toddlers at the play group and think Averie would destroy take them in a fight. She seems extra tall and her feet are large because it is hard to jam them into shoes now that it is cold out. Putting shoes on a baby requires a degree in engineering and a strong emotional disposition. I have neither.
Averie weighs about the same as 11 or 12-quart jugs of milk. (The internet told me that a quart of milk weighs about 2.15 pounds and I believed it.)
Comparing a baby to quarts of milk is the best analogy I can find considering that she is practically made of milk. This whole mammal thing is a thing of wonder.
Skill Set:
Our daughter is the master of making mouth fart noises. A skill I am sure will take her far in life.
She doesn’t stay in the same spot when you put her down. She is mobile. Which is both an exciting and terrifying development. She sort of scoots and rolls about dragging her leg. Despite not yet being adept at crawling she did an impressive downward dog for no clear reason. The child has skills.
Likes:
milk, milky drinks, milk boobs, milk to be everywhere. She loves; yams, pears, carrots, spinach, peas, apples, bananas, squash, mango, the list goes on, she loves to eat.
Avocado is still mouth murder.
Musical instruments fascinate all babies. Averie discovered the most efficient way to play the piano is to forcibly shove another person’s hand into the keys. Her talents in this lifetime are limitless.
She loves crinkly brown paper sheets.
She seems to enjoy the local playgroup we take her to. Despite maintaining a suspicious expression for the entire duration of circle sing along time. Claudine takes her to these events because I don’t trust activities called circle time.
Averie loves books and will be extra super smart because I say so.
She loved helping us put the Christmas lights on the tree by getting tangled in them and not helping at all.
We have taken her to see Christmas lights, visited the museum, and we meet Santa Claus (see dislikes section)
Dislikes:
Teething is also not high on her list of loves and at this rate, she will wake up with an entire set of full adult teeth any day now.
She is not a fan of cold winds and the winter wear designed to protect her from them. We must wrap her up like a marshmallow because the weather is whipping and frosty outside.
Averie hates Santa.
