The things we never knew.
Who would have known that I would be the proud owner, parent, storage vessel of a spanking new Hancock II Porcine Heart Valve? At the robust size of 27MM, it is complete with its own device number, which I plan to use in the future to track down the origin of my pig. (Impossible I know, but why not try?)
When I first found out that I needed surgery for a new valve early last year I wanted to meet ‘my pig’ to find out how they are farmed and to say thank you and I am sorry. Obviously that isn’t a possibility anymore because I am already walking around wearing the valve, which means the pig isn’t doing any walking anymore. (Poor sweet pig …)
But I do still plan to make a documentary – with some wonderfully talented film type friends – about my journey and hopefully where the pig came from and how it came to become a functioning part of my heart.
It’s going to be riveting stuff, seriously, stay tuned.
Oink.
