I have written about, Bintu, my ‘little sister’ in the past and how much joy I have gotten out of the volunteer program with Big Brothers & Big Sisters. At one of our events earlier in the summer, Bintu and our coordinator presented me with a ‘Big Sister of the Year’ nomination. Enclosed in the package was this handwritten letter.
Fortunately I was clever enough to wait until I got home to read it. Where I promptly crumpled into a blubbering mess at the sheer magic of it all.
We didn’t win the award this year. But I certainly won by being able to create a friendship with such an amazing little human.
I joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program hoping to be able to make a positive change and hopefully add to someone else’s life…I hadn’t imagined how much it would add to mine.

I have been fortunate enough to meet and spend a brief time with Bintu in Jan this year She came to visit Tracy when she was recovering from her surgery . Bintu made such an awesome first impression that her visit will always remain one of my favourite memories.
