Four-month baby stats:
We have all survived the first 16 weeks. Below are some stats of how Baby Averie has progressed so far.
Dimensions:
25.2” long and weighs a little less than a gallon and a half of honey, about 16.2lbs. (Apparently a gallon of honey usually weighs around 11.75lbs, who knew! You can really find out anything on Google if you just ask)
Her personality is really starting to flourish and every day I find something new to love.
Her hair has grown/fallen out in a style that is usually worn by middle aged male math teachers. She has a ring of determined hair around the lower back of her head that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere while the rest has mostly disappeared. It is both excellent and hilarious. If it hasn’t fallen out by Halloween she will most surely go dressed as a Friar Tuck.
Skill Set:
Captain baby girl is strong and determined. She can now roll over by herself and it is surely a matter of time before we are jogging around to keep up with her.
We are in the very early throws of teething and our poor baby girl is a faucet of almost constant drool. She also learned to spit last week, which to be honest, I have really never seen a baby do. It is cute and totally gross at the same time.
She is amazing on long car rides and slept for 3.5 merciful hours of a 4-hour drive. (and so did the dog)
The sound of a baby laughing should come with a warning label, hearing her laugh out loud is the kind of adorable that can make you ache.
We are taking the opportunity to maximize our summertime together during this year that Claudine is off work on maternity leave. Taking long trips to visit family and friends and making sure that Averie gets acquainted with her army of people who love her. She got to spend time with her Nanna and Grandpa and met her Uncle AJ for the first time. As expected everyone is deeply smitten.
She also got baptized and her fairy godmother, Christine came to show support and cheer her on for wearing a dress with excessive white tulle. (Rest assured absolutely none of this had anything to do with me.)
We took her to the Point Pelee, the most southern part of Canada, and she showed her appreciation by sleeping through the entire experience while I carried her.
On account of the excessive carrying around at Point Pelee, we finally shopped around and found a baby carrier that we (all) like and it has been a raging success now that she can face forward.
Likes:
milk, milky drinks, milk boobs, milk to be everywhere.
Drooling, licking and chewing. Not unlike a puppy.
Averie, loves to swim. We filled up a rather ample inflatable pool to counteract the summertime heat on our patio and she just couldn’t be happier to splash around in it.
She is now the excited owner of her very first ExerSaucer, which she loves (Thanks Terra & Erin!) And we are the proud parents of rapidly vanishing floor space.
Dislikes:
She had her 4 month shots and they went as expected. Terrible.
Overall Score: 10/10
It should be illegal to love someone this much.
