It’s a long way to Tipperary Tobermory.
We spent the last week exploring crystalline blue waters that sparkled against beds of limestone. Lake Huron and Georgian Bay do a simply majestic job at being lakes. They really lake their lakeness.
If you ever go with a group of 6 or more consider renting a private charter boat. Ours was complete with a Captain named John, who took us on a way too short 2-hour tour to do some snorkeling around underwater shipwrecks and cruised at sunset around flowerpot island with its gravity defying, teetering stone pillars. It was a first boat ride for baby Averie and the most recent time I have tried to jam my body into a wetsuit. Both things were mostly successful.
I hated to love the hiking along the lush Bruce trail to the Devils Monument and Dyers Bay. The sheer spectacular precipice of some parts violently confirmed that I have a toe curling fear of heights. Luckily and foolishly we let our friend Dom carry Aveire ahead of us, which at some parts was the only reason I mustered up the courage to continue, because I had no choice but to follow our baby. The trail leads to one of the most beautiful expanses of perfect stony beaches, hidden away from the tourist laden crowds we found at The Grotto.
If you live in Ontario or ever plan to visit, you should immediately cease making excuses and go see Tobermory. There are so many things to see and do, it really is worth the adventure.
I highly recommend it.
Well done Canada, you continue to outdo yourself.
